BioStar™ Organics produces a wide variety of high-quality organic fertilizer products that are the best of all choices of organic vegetable fertilizer. Our patent pending technologies have taken common poultry manure to a level not seen in the organic fertilizer marketplace. They are produced using revolutionary technologies that benefit farms, their local communities, and the greater eco-system as a whole.  All of our chicken manure organic fertilizer products are pathogen and harmful bacteria free, OMRI certified and approved for use on food crops, including fruits and vegetables, because the BioStar anaerobic digestion process destroys the pathogens in manure.

Most liquid organic fertilizers are not approved for use on Tier 1 fruits and vegetables that go straight from the farm to your table within 90 days of harvest, but BioStar Organics fertilizers are OMRI listed for use with no restrictions! We produce liquid and granular fertilizers, fast-acting and slow-release nitrogen fertilizers, as well as an organic liquid soil conditioner that is a complete package of nutrients, and an organic/synthetic high nitrogen lawn fertilizer. You can read a summary of all of our organic fertilizers, or view product sheets for all of our types of organic fertilizer products.

RECOMMENDED LETTUCE APPLICATIONS (CENTRAL VALLEY, CA)

Conventional production of lettuce in the central valley requires approximately 150 – 180 lbs. of nitrogen/crop. In many locations two crops/year are possible with the second crop needing only 100 – 125 lbs. N. These numbers are based upon the use of synthetic fertilizer application methods applied as a solid granular application (broadcast and sideband).

Liquid Organic Fertilizer Application Method

The use of liquid nitrogen fertilizer application methods, such as drip irrigation, to supply nitrogen is 20-30% more efficient than granular applications due to a number of different reasons. Add to that the fact that organic sources of fertilizer are more efficient than synthetic (recommended levels of SuperSix organic ammoniacal nitrogen fertilizer should be approximately 20% lower than with synthetic), and you are left with about a 50% reduction of fertilizer N needs using SuperSix liquid organic fertilizer with tape irrigation.

Liquid Organic Fertilizer Application Method Recommendations:

The following application rates are based upon a 50% reduction of total nitrogen needs from the completely synthetic fertilizer application method noted above.

  • 10 lbs. N/acre pre-plant or at planting
  • 25-35 lbs. N/acre at thinning
  • 10-15 lbs. N/acre pre-harvest
  • Total Nitrogen: 45 – 60 lbs. N/acre of Super Six 6-0-5
  • Super Six has 0.57 lbs. N/gallon = 75 – 100 gallons/acre
  • Add a second crop/season with 50-60 gallons/acre that totals 125 – 160 gallons/acre/year
